LAS LABRADAS PETROGLYPH SITE

Just a few minutes from Mazatlan, Mexico, there is a place called Barras del Piaxtla where you will find an interested archaeological site commonly known as Las Labradas, with an impresive group of petroglyphs right on the beach.

Petroglyphs or rock art are the voice of ancient testimonies of hundreds of years of mythological traditions made by the ancient peoples of the american continent and they are a beautiful abstract and symbolic expressions for the continent´s new inhabitants.

Petroglyphs were usually associated with the supernatural. For the natives  they were an important way to communicate with their gods, and  made within a specific context of rituals and ceremonies to asked for rain, a good harvest, a good hunting season, etc.

Historians agree that these engravings were made aprox one thousand  and five hundred  years ago.
